Making a Proper Tea


The best cup of tea is made with loose leaves, without the use of a tea ball, says Meredith Sweetpea. You want the leaves to be able to open up for a full-flavored tea, so measure the loose tea directly into the teapot.

Use one teaspoon of tea per cup (more if you like full-bodied tea), and add an extra teaspoon for the pot. Mix the tea and boiling water in a teapot and let it steep for 3-5 minutes with the lid closed.

Pour the tea into your teacup through a tea strainer and enjoy.
